From the editorial in the Oregonian:
“Republicans and moderate Democrats weren’t about to stick their constituents with both a gas-tax hike and a fuel mandate that could, the state estimates, raise the price at the pump by up to 19 cents per gallon. They won’t next year, either. To pass a funding package, the Legislature will have to kill the low-carbon fuel standard.”
I couldn’t agree more. We NEED better roads, more roads and bridges. We need this but NOT at the cost the Democrats propose with their ridiculous low carbon fuel standard. Talk to YOUR State Representative and tell them “NO” to the low carbon fuel tax and let them know how you feel about our roads and bridges.
I will also say that I am CLEARLY against ANY new taxes….but, I would say “Yes” to this IF ODOT is held to VERY high standards and not given a blank check. We’ve all seen how incompetent state agencies can be….ODOT is one of the worst. I want strict guidelines for what and where the money can be spent.
